ICP SERVICES
NERS Registered Independent Connection Provider

Platinum Street Lighting is a fully accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP) under the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS). We provide a faster, more flexible, and cost-effective alternative to traditional Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) for all highway electrical connections.

As a NERS-registered provider, we are authorised to undertake "contestable" works on the electricity network. This means we can manage the design, installation, and commissioning of your electrical connections without being subject to DNO lead times. From single-phase street lighting columns to complex three-phase feeder pillars, we provide a seamless end-to-end service.

Our ICP Capabilities
We specialise in unmetered connections for highway infrastructure. Our teams are fully qualified to work on both single-phase and three-phase supplies, ensuring we can power everything from basic signage to large-scale distribution hubs.

1. New Connections
We provide new unmetered connections to the grid for all types of highway furniture:
-
Street Lighting Columns: Both arterial road lighting and residential schemes.
-
Illuminated Signs & Bollards: Essential safety-critical infrastructure.
-
Feeder Pillars: Providing robust power distribution for wider schemes.
-
CCTV & EV Charging: Supporting modern smart-city and security requirements.

2. Transfers & Relocations
When upgrading existing highways or reconfiguring layouts, we handle the transfer of existing services from decommissioned units to new installations. We ensure minimal downtime and maintain the integrity of the network throughout the transition.

3. Disconnections
Safe and compliant permanent disconnections of redundant highway electrical equipment, managed in full coordination with the relevant network operator to ensure assets are correctly removed from the national inventory.

Why Choose Platinum Street Lighting?

Integrated Civil Works
Unlike many providers who rely on sub-contractors for groundworks, we carry out all associated civil works using our own in-house teams. This includes:
-
Trenching and ducting.
-
Excavation and backfilling.
-
Reinstatement to local authority and HAUC standards.
By managing the civils ourselves, we eliminate "contractor interface" delays, ensuring your project remains on track and under one single point of contact.

Direct Network Agreements
We hold established connection agreements and "live jointing" authorisations with the UK’s major Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), including:
-
National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
-
Northern Powergrid (NPG)
-
GTC
-
Last Mile
-
Harlaxton Energy Networks
-
UK Power Networks
-
And various other networks nationwide.

Reduced Lead Times
The primary challenge in highway electrical work is often the DNO’s scheduling. As an ICP, we bypass these queues. We control the programme of works, allowing us to energise your equipment significantly faster than the traditional DNO route.

Compliance & Safety
Safety is at the core of our ICP operations. Our NERS accreditation, managed via (LRQA) Lloyd’s Register, is a mark of technical excellence. We operate under strict HERS (Highway Electrical Registration Scheme) standards, ensuring every connection is tested, inspected, and documented for a seamless adoption by the host network.
